SHOWER BEFORE YOU GO IN
Showering before you go swimming will help your otherwise dry skin and hair from absorbing as much of the chlorinated water.
- APPLY A LOTION TO THE SKIN
Apply a lotion or cream before you start swimming will help to create a protective barrier over the skin and neutralise chlorine absorption.
- APPLY AN OIL TO THE HAIR
Much as a lotion does on the skin, an oil will create a protective barrier around your hair follicles to help prevent damage
- WEAR PROTECTIVE CLOTHING
A swimming cap and goggles are great to prevent chlorine from reaching your hair and eyes in the first place. Make sure they are fitted correctly to stop water from getting in.
ADD VITAMIN C TO YOUR SKINCARE
Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant, not only does it defend the skin against free radicals (toxins) but it neutralises Chlorine.
TAKE A SHOWER AFTER YOU SWIM
The most effective way to stop chlorine from damaging your skin is to shower immediately after swimming in a chlorinated pool. Make sure you are using a specialised body wash to eliminate the chemical smell and neutralise the excess chlorine molecules
EXFOLIATE
Exfoliation will clear away old dead skin cells, encouraging cell turnover and fresh new growth keeping your skin healthy and radiant.
IF YOU CAN’T SHOWER SPRITZ
It’s not realistic to think that every time we time take a dip or clock some laps we can immediately rinse off afterwards with our favourite body wash. This is why it’s crucial for your skin’s health to invest in a quality chlorine-neutralising spray that will boost hydration, nourish skin + hair and stop the smell of nasty chemicals.
INVEST IN QUALITY HAIR CARE
Shampoo & conditioners that not only cleanse your hair and scalp of chlorine and harsh toxins but also balance the pH, hydrate, strengthen and protect your hair are so important to maintaining its health and shine both in and out of the water.
HYDRATE FROM THE INSIDE OUT
Your skin and hair will function at their peak and be their strongest when they are properly hydrated. When your body is dehydrated your skin barrier can begin to weaken making it more susceptible to the elements along with germs and toxins. Ake sure you are drinking at least 2 – 2.5 litres of water every day and your entire body will thank you!
